CURRENT ISSUES IN CRIME INVESTIGATION IN MODERN CONDITIONS

Abstract

This article is dedicated to the exploration of current issues in crime investigation in contemporary settings. The author emphasizes that crime investigation faces numerous challenges and problems, including cybercrimes and cybersecurity, corruption and organized crime, hate crimes based on race, religion, or gender, crimes related to armed aggression by the Russian Federation, human rights violations, threats to witnesses and investigators, globalization, and international cooperation, as well as technological challenges and ensuring the right to a fair trial. The need for an expanded understanding of the subject of forensic methodology is highlighted, which can be presented as a system of theoretical principles and recommendations for the organization of crime detection, investigation, and prevention of specific types and groups of crimes. New scientific approaches and proposals for addressing the discussed contentious issues are substantiated, and innovative research directions in this field are identified. Research objective is to analyze and investigate specific contentious issues in crime investigation in modern conditions, identify traditional and innovative approaches to understanding them, formulate the subject and system of forensic methodology, and outline promising directions for further scientific research in this area. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that criminology should not limit itself to investigating only the results of criminal activity – crimes. Considering the trends of the modern world (globalization, informatization, the development of nanotechnology, information warfare), its role and purpose need to be transformed. Reforming the law enforcement system requires the active implementation of a crime investigation system aimed at creating effective measures and mechanisms to combat crime, as well as forensic support for law enforcement activities.
